Abstract
This paper deals with the dialectical process of developing operator professionals, semi-professionals and non-professionals to obtain job satisfaction for all the different categories of people in the computerized systems. The authors' main argument is that computerization should not be regarded only as a process of technological development but as a process of social innovation. The conditions for the process of social development are of course changed by the different advances in technology and consequently the process can be described in accordance with the different stages in the technological development. The crucial question is, however, how to design the innovation process by designing the development of the different computer professions through education and training. The point is not that computerized systems can be regarded as man-machine systems with all the communication problems related to these systems, but that the organization of social production is found to be contradictory to the applications of the new technology.
